deciduous tree with leaves up to 10 m. globular crown with expanded green vivo. Trunk erect, sinuous, soon branched with reddish-brown bark, fissured opaque in adult plants (thorny branches in wild plants). They alternate with segments oblamceolata, base cuneata and finely serrated margin. The upper surface is dull and dark green, the lighter and less pubescent. Are isolated or in groups of 2-3, white, flowering precedes the development of the leaves. The fruit is a drupe oval with smooth skin and waxy, which can vary in color from yellow to red-purple. Commonly cultivated species, grows feral in the woods and uncultivated and barren from 0 to 1500 m high.
