Tree Banyan

The Tree is the sculpture created by design studio FARM in Singapore for National Museum Asian city-state.

This is the old Banyan tree that stands majestically on the lawn of the museum, in a strong symbolic value, full of history, stories and magic. This project was intended to allude to all these riches and symbolism through a modern reinterpretation Banyan tree. Just as in the past, this "tree" is thought to inspire people to slow down, reflect, take a break from the hectic pace of modern life or simply indulge in relaxation and tranquility that the surrounding nature can provide.
The tree consists of a series of rectangles of various sizes and square frames that arise from the ground and that intertwine to form a three-dimensional composition that evokes the shape of ' Banyan tree. At night, with the addition of LED light tubes, the tree lights up like a magic lantern and sitting at the foot of this tree modern, looking upward, the lines of light are easily confused with constellations of distant stars.
The tree, although modern technology, can interact with people, he is alive! Indeed, "The Tree" to react to the sound FARM Design Studio: a series of microphones are hidden within the structure of the shaft and are programmed to pick up sounds by the public. Recorded sounds are more powerful and more lights the tree! L ' tree is alive, constantly changing the intensity of its light interacting with the surrounding soundscape. "
